From the Valley of Olifants there are 3 entrance gates into the Kruger National Park; Pafuri, Punda Maria and Phalaborwa. The Soutpansberg region has an impressive ±130 km mountain range running from east to west, allowing for a diverse flora and fauna, from ancient Baobab Trees in the low lying areas to specialized mountain flora. The Waterberg has mountains that stretch for ±150km and it is the first savannah biosphere nature reserve to be registered in southern Africa.
The Capricorn region stretches from Ysterberg to the Tropic of Capricorn and includes the Modjadji Cycad Reserve, boasting 12 000 mature cycads of Encephalartos transvenosus species. This forest is considered to be the most extensive cycad reserve in the world. Set in the Lobedu Mountains it is also home to the legendary Modjadi Rain Queen.
Road transfers are readily available into and around the province; the Phalaborwa Kruger Park Gateway and Eastgate Airports have scheduled flights to/from Johannesburg International Airport daily.
Limpopo has deep rooted cultural bonds and the VhaVenda people have inhabited Venda the “land of legends” since the beginning of the 18th century.
As with most of southern Africa the Limpopo Province enjoys a warm climate, with the mountainous areas being somewhat cooler.
There is a large selection of luxurious hotels, lodges, private safari/game lodges, and Bed and Breakfast and state/provincial establishments available in Limpopo to suit all requirements.
