In October of 1992 hostilities, between the Renamo and the governing forces of Farlimo ceased, leaving a war torn country. Mozambique is now at peace and the friendly hard working people are rebuilding their country. The devastated infrastructure was one of the first sectors to recover. Roads, hospitals, transport, lodges/hotels, telephone systems including a cellular network which covers most cities and towns are now in place.Safari_Summit_Tours_and_Safaris_Elephant

Mozambique’s sunny skies, endless white beaches laced with coconut palms, tropical islands, coral reefs and the warm azure Indian Ocean has led to a huge resurgence in the growth of tourism both from South Africa and the international market. This has also promoted the establishment of a range of world class holiday resorts and lodges.

Food is generally spicy, the fusion of Portuguese, Arab, Indian and Chinese cuisines creates an absolute taste sensation. As Mozambique has a coastline that extends for ±2 500km/1553m along the Indian Ocean, sea food such as crayfish, prawns, calamari, tuna and freshly caught line fish feature strongly on all menus, alongside peri peri (hot and spicy) chicken and Portuguese steaks. Local and South African beer, imported Portuguese and South African wines are freely available.

Climate

Mozambique has a subtropical/tropical climate, with February being the monsoon season in the north and the hottest month of the year. The rainy season occurs during the summer months and the cooler dryer months April to September are splendid months to visit this country.
